Junior Programme

Play holes on the course and learn the rules, game etiquette and scoring system, while improving week-on-week.

The NC Golf Junior Programme is a weekly session every Saturday. It’s designed for all ages and abilities, and offers the opportunity for junior golfers to play on the course, learn the rules and etiquette of the game, and benefit from regular coaching sessions.

Juniors will play seven holes of the 9-hole course at Dibden Golf Centre. There will be seven tee stages on each hole; each one a different distance away from the flag.

Every Junior that begins the programme will start on the orange tees and start their progression to black. They will play in small groups with adult supervisor from the parents of the players.

Scoring System

Every junior golfer will get a scorecard to complete during the seven holes.

The course par for the seven holes will stay the same for all seven teeing areas. However, there will be a target score for the seven holes, which - if met - will allow the player to move back to the next colour tee the following week.

Progression

Once a junior golfer has met the target score for the orange tees, they will progress to red, blue, green, purple, gold and then black. After completing each stage, golfers will receive a bag tag for each stage.

If any junior completes the programme, there will then be further progression steps.

  • Step 1 - Colour-coded stage (as outlined above)

  • Step 2 - Full 9-hole course

  • Step 3 - Front 9 of the 18 hole course

  • Step 4 - Back 9 of the 18 hole course

  • Step 5 - Full 18 holes

  • Step 6 - Enter junior leagues against other clubs

Supervision

I know that a lot of the parents have already said they would like to walk around with their child and group. I am very appreciative of this as I cannot be with all groups at once and without you I couldn’t make this work.

This would be for safety reasons; making sure the juniors are stood in the correct place, not swinging at certain times, and helping with the scorecards etc. If every player could have a parent/caddy that would be amazing however I know that may not be possible. If you’d like to help out, please email me.

Groupings, schedule and scores

Anyone wanting to play on a Saturday should need to confirm with me by Thursday evening.

On Friday evening, I will circulate a list of groups and tee times.

On the Saturday morning, players should arrive 15 minutes before their tee time, allowing time to register, collect their scorecard and be ready to start.

On Saturday evening, I will post all the scores in the Junior Programme WhatsApp group (email me if you’d like to join this group).

Timings

The NC Golf Junior Programme takes place every Saturday. It will alternate between the course and coaching.

A final note from Nathan…

I have been running weekly junior coaching sessions for four years now and really enjoy my time with everyone. When I was a junior golfer, I was part of a great group, having group coaching sessions on a Saturday morning and then play all day until it was dark. We all wanted to get better, beat each other, and play as much as we can.

I really want this group to progress, to build a strong group of golfers and encourage improvement week-on-week.

I’m super excited about this and hope you are too.
